The course - worth £700 per individual - is FULLY-FUNDED by SwimNE and PaddlePod. It will take place at PaddlePod Newcastle (Killingworth) between 31st January and 4th February 2022, and will see successful individuals gain a recognised UK swimming teacher qualification (Level 2 STA Award in Teaching Swimming).
Once qualified, there are full-time and part-time positions available.
We've said it before and we will say it again (because it really is amazing!)... This course is fully-funded and will see successful candidates offered full-time or part-time roles with SwimNE on completion.
Lessons for school-aged children at PaddlePod are delivered by the fabulous team at SwimNE.
Founded in 2006, they are the north-east’s leading - and the largest - independent swim school. They have twice been crowned Swim England’s Swim School of the Year, and they are growing at an incredible rate.
Now, the SwimNE team are looking for enthusiastic swimming instructors to join their team.
Successful candidates will teach group and private lessons, which are offered to children aged 4 years old and up. You’ll be joining a fun, friendly and - well, there’s just no other word for it - awesome team. And, of course, you’ll get to teach in some of the region’s newest and most exciting learn to swim venues (that’s us!).
If you are looking for a new challenge, SwimNE offers incredible benefits. As well as being able to say you work for the north-east’s top swim school, you’ll be offered competitive pay, pools of training and development opportunities, and a job that you can truly say is the best ever!
Applicants who are accepted onto the fully-funded swimming teacher training programme will complete five days of training between 31st January and 4th February. Following this, they will shadow some of our existing teaching team before starting to deliver their own lessons.
The course will cover areas such as:
- Roles and responsibilities of a swimming teacher
- Scientific principles of teaching swimming
- Skills and strokes
- Effective teaching (communication, motivation and positioning)
- Inclusion and disability
- Safety and rescue
All successful candidates will undergo a DBS check, and will have their first year of membership to the STA paid.
